Five West Virginia University student athletes were in ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä Monday to visit with children in a hospital pediatric ward and to attend a scholarship fundraising dinner.
Making a stop at the pediatric ward at WVU Medicine Thomas Hospital were ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä Catholic graduate and track-and-field team member Aubrie Custer, and wrestler Blake Boyers. They were joined by rifle team members Gavin Barnick, Griffin Lake and Molly McGhin.
Afterward, the student athletes attended the Mountaineer Athletic Club’s annual scholarship dinner, held this year at the ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä Coliseum and Convention Center.
Former WVU head basketball coach John Beilein was scheduled as the guest speaker.
About 200 attended the event. Last year’s scholarship dinner raised over $50,000 for scholarships for student athletes.
