The West Virginia Legislature approved the state budget for Fiscal Year 2026 on Friday, representing a “compromise†between the state Senate’s version — which largely reflected Gov. Patrick Morrisey’s proposals — and a very different one previously proposed by the House.

The new state budget totals about $5.317 billion in base revenue spending, a $5 million decrease from the budget proposed by Morrisey at the beginning of the session. The House’s passage of House Bill 2026 was accepted by the Senate, and the budget is now completed.
