Heavy rainfall poured across Kanawha County on the morning of April 4, 2025, leading to several streets and areas being impacted by high water.
There is a for much of the Kanawha Valley and 12 West Virginia counties, according to the National Weather Service in ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä.
Parts of Boone, Fayette, Raleigh, Logan, Mingo and Wyoming counties are also under until 3:15 p.m.
Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain have fallen today, according to the NWS.

Much of southern and western West Virginia as rain continues to fall in the Kanawha Valley and beyond.
As much as 3 inches of rain may fall by Sunday, according to the National Weather Service in ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä.

A front moving back and forth across the middle Ohio Valley leads to severe thunderstorm and excessive rainfall threats overnight into the weekend. A flood watch is in effect for the middle Ohio Valley and much of northern West Virginia until 8 AM Sunday.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely all day Friday in the ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä area with a high of 73 and a low of 63, according to the NWS.
On Saturday, it will be partly sunny with a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. It will be warmer with gusty winds with a high of 85 and a low of 50.
Rain will likely continue on Sunday with cooler temperatures. The high will be 58 and the low will be 38.
This large, developing storm system could affect areas from Texas to southern Ohio, which are at risk of excessive rainfall through Saturday. Southeastern Ohio and northeastern Kentucky could see 3-6 inches of rain.

Because of the possibility of severe weather, Gov. Patrick Morrisey has  for all 55 West Virginia counties.
This designation means that state agencies, including the West Virginia Emergency Management Division, to prepare to respond as needed.
“I am urging all West Virginians to heed weather warnings over the next few days as severe storms make their way across the state,†said Morrisey. “As we continue to monitor developments, I have directed all state agencies and resources to prepare to respond as needed.â€
