Overnight rains Monday into Tuesday have created hazardous conditions in the Kanawha Valley, forcing several school districts to adjust their Tuesday schedules.
As of 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, the following school districts have modified their schedules for Tuesday:
Clay County Schools: Closed
Fayette County Schools: Non-traditional learning day
Kanawha County Schools: 2-hour delay
Lincoln County Schools: 2-hour delay

Flood Warning for the Kanawha Valley
Overnight Monday into Tuesday, between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen in the region, prompting the National Weather Service in ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä to issue a Flood Warning for the following counties until 8 a.m. Tuesday:
Metro 911 Communications on Tuesday morning said there were several incidents of flooded cars that involved water rescues of people in Kanawha County overnight, none with injuries. Calls for flooded cars came in for:

Rutledge Road
Belle underpass
Handley
Flooding of creeks, streams and other low-lying flood-prone locations is possible. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff, according to the National Weather Service.

Snow showers will diminish from west to east as a system pulls away from the area. Drier conditions are expected for the lowlands by afternoon, while upslope snow may persist along the mountains much of the day. A Wind Advisory remains in effect for the higher terrain until 4 PM.
