AH, BULL! Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour bucks into ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä this weekend for its fourth professional bull riding competition event. PBR takes place Friday-Saturday, Jan. 17-18, at ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä Coliseum. Competition begins at 8 p.m. Friday with 40 bull riders and one bull in Round 1 The top 36 riders from Round 1 are featured at Round 2 at 7 p.m. Saturday. Tickets begin at $20, plus additional fees.
HOOP SHOOTER: Saybin Messinger of Huntington placed second in the annual Hoop Shoot free throw contest hosted by Huntington Elks Lodge in early December at Phil Cline YMCA. His winning was in the 11- to 12-year-old boys’ category and will not advance to the upcoming competition. Congratulations on this win.

NEW POSITION: Keith Hoover, Hurricane, West Virginia native and deputy administrative director for Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia, recently became the administrative director, effective January 1. The West Virginia Wesleyan College and West Virginia University College of Law practiced law 10 years in ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä before starting as counsel with the Appeals office in March 2019. He was promoted to co-deputy administrative director in January 2021, serving as the judiciary’s liaison with West Virginia Legislature and executive branch. He replaces Joe Armstrong, who is retiring after being in that position since 2019. Congratulations on these position changes and best wishes on the upcoming changes.
