ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä Dirty Birds catcher Yovan Gonzalez has been named to the 2022 Atlantic League postseason All-Star team, voted on by the league’s managers and coaches.
In his second season in ÂÒÂ×ÄÚÉä, Gonzalez started 91 games and led the Dirty Birds with a .313 batting average, 90 hits and 51 RBIs. He ended the season with a .993 fielding percentage.
Gonzalez wrapped up the 2022 season as the recipient of the Dirty Birds’ Most Valuable Player award after being nominated by the club for the Atlantic League Player of the Month for the month of August, where he batted .373 with a .436 on-base percentage.
The rest of the Atlantic League All-Star team includes first baseman Andretty Cordero (Lancaster), second baseman Joseph Rosa (Gastonia), shortstop Jack Reinheimer (Gastonia), third baseman Carlos Franco (York), outfielders Alejandro De Aza (Long Island), Courtney Hawkins (Lexington) and Zander Wiel (High Point), designated hitter David Harris (Southern Maryland), starting pitcher Daryl Thompson (Southern Maryland), relief pitcher Endrys Briceno (Southern Maryland) and closer Jesus Balaguer (Gastonia).
